In the home of Michaela Forni

Helena and Victor, founders of Look Projects
In a beautiful building in Östermalm, featuring a mix of 1920s architecture and modern extensions, we find entrepreneur, influencer, and author Michael Forni’s elegant home designed by Stockholm-based LOOK Projects. In this feature, interior architects Victor Ohlsson and Helena Dyessen share their vision and philosophy behind the project.
Who are LOOK Projects?
We are inspired by the blend of different creative fields such as fashion, design, interior architecture, and art. For us, it is important that the feeling is right from the very beginning, and we spend a lot of time finding the right inspiration and approach in each project before moving forward in the design process. We believe in a mix of classic simplicity, 1970s funkiness, and contemporary design that reflects the current moment. Everything needs to come together to create the personal and eclectic expression that we believe is essential in good interior design.
Herringbone floors in light oak

What were the thoughts behind the choice of flooring?
“We chose a large herringbone parquet in a light and soft tone. Together with skirting boards and details in Travertino Classico, it became a magical combination. We opted for a classic herringbone layout rather than a chevron pattern, as we felt it created a better overall flow and connection between the rooms.”

What was your vision for the project?
The project is located in an older apartment in Östermalm, Stockholm, composed of elements from both the 1920s and more modern extensions. Our goal was to create a unifying thread and ensure the entire apartment felt cohesive and harmonious. The vision was to highlight the original details of the space and introduce new materials that would elevate it and bring it into a contemporary context. We aimed to use few but high-quality materials, working extensively with wood, stone, and plaster—materials that bring a strong sense of character and personality.
