Villa Bjärred

Along the Scanian coast, just a stone’s throw from the sea, lies a newly built home that captures both the light and the calm of Bjärred’s welcoming residential neighbourhoods. Designed by Anders Holmberg Arkitekter, the house is modern in its expression yet carries a warm and inviting soul. Softly rounded corners and organic forms give the architecture a harmonious flow, while the warm wooden façade and natural materials allow the house to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.

For this home, CHEVRON has created a solid foundation of warmth and character—a wooden floor in a classic herringbone pattern that brings both rhythm and comfort to the rooms. We visited the site and met with both Anders and the homeowners, Maria and Ulf.

“The form of the house began with the ambition to create a home that feels welcoming, soft, and harmonious. The rounded corners, both inside and out, became a natural part of the solution. They connect the rooms, make the house easy to move through, and give it a calm and comforting expression.”—Anders Holmberg

Oak Herringbone, Finish 101 Falsterbo

Maria and Ulf, the owners of the villa, chose a herringbone floor in generous proportions, 200 × 800 mm, in the light and nature-inspired shade 101 Falsterbo—a choice that creates a harmonious dialogue between modern elegance and organic expression. The long planks enhance the flow of the rooms, while the soft colour captures the light and resonates with the villa’s rounded, fluid architecture. The result is a floor that both grounds the home in the serenity of nature and elevates the overall atmosphere with a timeless architectural character.

They also opted for a floor without bevels, giving it a seamless appearance where each plank merges into the next, forming a unified and harmonious whole.

“The material choices were made to maintain a warm and timeless feel. The vertical, untreated wooden façade allows the house to age beautifully and blend into the garden, while the interior is characterized by light floors, wooden details, and muted natural tones that create a safe and soothing atmosphere. Inside, the project is very much about flow. The rounded staircase, the softly shaped fireplace, and the open connections give the house a daily rhythm that works effortlessly and without interruption. The result is a home that is easy to enjoy—soft in its form, solid in its materials, and thoughtful in every detail.”—Anders Holmberg

When Maria and Ulf were choosing their wooden flooring, it was important to find an option that would stand the test of time while also finding a supplier capable of producing the large and technically demanding dimensions they were looking for.
