House boat in Copenhagen

Ash floors laid in planks
On the rippling waters of Refshaleøen (Reffen), just outside central Copenhagen, sits a houseboat designed by Danish Mast Arkitekter, surrounded by food trucks and innovative container boats. The houseboat, featured on the Swedish TV programme “Grand Designs Sweden,” has a clean and minimalist exterior design, while the interior reveals a warm and inviting atmosphere where natural materials and beautiful art play a prominent role. Chevron flooring in light ash, laid as a plank floor, forms the foundation of a stylish interior.
The plank flooring has been chosen without bevels, creating a smooth surface where the planks meet edge to edge without visible grooves or gaps. This gives the space a seamless and refined feel. The calm, knot-free grading creates a beautiful contrast to the expressive pine panelling.
